Description

Join PikPok as a Senior Researcher and Help Us Craft Amazing Game Experiences!

Who we are:

PikPok is Aotearoa New Zealand’s oldest and largest video game developer and publisher. We strive to successfully provide rich game experiences, crafted by talented teams who are curious, take ownership, and collaborate well. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive workplace that enables our teams to make games which will be enjoyed worldwide across mobile, desktop, and console.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Senior Researcher to join our Design Division and help us really understand our players and the broader gaming market. You'll be the bridge between our players and our design teams, helping us create even more engaging and entertaining experiences.

We're a friendly and collaborative team that values curiosity, ownership, and working together. We believe everyone has something to contribute, and we're always learning from each other.

The Senior Researcher's responsibilities include:

  • You’re the voice of the player - challenging product solutions to be prioritised based on evidence
  • Design and lead research projects to understand our players, using a mix of methods you feel are best suited to the task.
  • Turn insights into actionable improvements, helping us iterate and develop our games based on solid findings.
  • Proactively provide market intelligence and customer insights.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product owners, and other teams, sharing your findings and helping everyone understand what our players are looking for.
  • Drive research learnings into impact by socialising insights throughout the development cycle.
  • Understand where to invest your time, knowing when a quick summary is best versus a detailed report, and clearly communicating the limitations of research results.

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Experience and success in both User Research and Market Research techniques - (strength in either, but experience in both preferred)
  • Someone who embraces a scientific approach to their work, but understands pragmatism over rigour.
  • An analytical thinker who understands how to define and clearly articulate problems and objectives for product teams
  • Confident communicator, who is world-famous for building strong, trusting relationships with our stakeholders
  • Understanding of strategy and ability to provide counsel around insights informing product strategy.
  • Knowledge of best practices in various qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to analyze research results and create clear, actionable reports and presentations.
  • Mature communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate complex discussions, work hands-on alongside the team, and build strong, trusted relationships.
  • Interest in games, ideally with experience in the gaming industry.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Benefits

What we offer:

We commit to being an employer who values fun and delivery. We pride ourselves in providing a work environment where it is safe to be yourself. Our teams enjoy the satisfaction that comes from creating success and joy, entertaining the world, and working together.

We have a variety of benefits including free personal healthcare, unlimited sick leave, and regular training and personal development opportunities including monthly self-directed Lab Days and yearly Game Jams. Please find more information on our careers page: https://apply.workable.com/pikpok/

How to Apply:

To apply please attach your C.V / resume along with a short cover letter that showcases how your skill and experience translate for this role.  Applications close 7 April 2025 , however we will be reviewing applications as they come in so don’t delay!

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people.  Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply - your unique experience and perspective could be exactly what we’re looking for.
