Job Description

Google seeks a Senior Software Developer to contribute to the Chrome on iOS team. Responsibilities include designing and implementing new user-facing features, collaborating with designers on user experiences, developing prototypes, optimizing applications for mobile performance, adding automated tests, and contributing to both open-source Chromium and Google's proprietary code base. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of iOS development experience, proficiency in relevant programming languages, and experience with software design, architecture, and testing. The role involves working on a critical project within Google's rapidly evolving environment. The team aims to build the best browser on iOS, leveraging Chrome's codebase to deliver innovative and high-quality mobile web browsing.

Must have:

5+ years software development experience
3+ years iOS development experience
Experience with software design & architecture
Proficient in testing and launching software products
Design & implement new user-facing features
Collaborate with designers on user experience

Good to have:

Master's degree in CS or related field
Experience with Objective-C, Swift, C++
Experience building AI-powered features
Knowledge of iOS UI frameworks, MVP design, reactive UI

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with iOS development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Experience with programming in Objective-C, Swift and C++.
Experience shipping end-user features and owning the rollout and impact analysis.
Experience with building AI powered features.
Knowledge of iOS UI frameworks, Model–View–Presenter (MVP) application design and reactive touch based UI.
Knowledge of iOS mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Design and implement new user-facing features in Chrome for iOS.
Collaborate with designers to create innovative user experiences. Develop prototypes quickly to validate interactions and product designs.
Optimize applications to maximize speed and scale, factoring in mobile network latency and bandwidth constraints.
Add automated tests to validate features and help our manual testers build a test plan for them.
Work in the open-source Chromium repository as well as Google’s proprietary code base.
