We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Python) for a long-term W2 contract with one of the world’s leading oil and gas companies. In this role, you’ll contribute to high-impact engineering projects that drive innovation and operational excellence across the business.
This is a hybrid position based in Houston, TX, with on-site work required Tuesday through Thursday each week. Please note: candidates must be local to Houston and available to work onsite — no exceptions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python.
- Architect and enhance event-driven systems with Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
- Engage in solution design, conduct code reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across product and business teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Champion CI/CD and DevOps best practices in a cloud-first environment.
- Uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and reliability.
Requirements:
- Over 5+ years of backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Demonstrated experience with Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
- Expertise in distributed, multi-process systems and asynchronous messaging.
- Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Azure services such as Blob Storage, ACR, Vault, and Azure SQL.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools, including GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
