Job Description

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Security and Privacy for its Pixel Phone team. Responsibilities include designing and implementing next-generation Pixel security features, hardening low-level system software, researching and developing new security capabilities, improving security testing infrastructure (fuzzing, CI), and collaborating on open-source projects. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of experience in embedded or phone security design and development, expertise in authentication, encryption, and OS security, and familiarity with boot firmwares like TF-A and UEFI. A Master's degree or PhD is preferred, along with experience in CPU architectures (ARM, RISC-V, etc.). The role involves working on critical security projects, contributing to the development of future Pixel devices, and improving security practices across the board.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience working on embedded or phone security design and development.
  • Experience in authentication, encryption, certificate management, or operating system security.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience working on embedded or phone security design and development.
  • Experience with boot and runtime firmwares such as Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) etc.
  • Experience with open source development and with the security development life cycle.
  • Experience with CPU architectures such as ARM, RISC-V, x86, MIPS, and others.

  • Improve infrastructures for fuzzing, testing, CI, and develop technical solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with upstream Open Source Software projects.
