The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for operating specialized machines to cut, form, and finish sheet metal items. This involves TIG welding, soldering, reading blueprints, making precise measurements, and ensuring products meet Disney and industry standards. Responsibilities include operating metal bending machines and welding equipment, repairing sheet metal items, creating flat patterns from prints, and adhering to safety regulations. The ideal candidate possesses journeyman-level experience in sheet metal fabrication, including using various machines (shears, brakes, presses, etc.), hand tools for shaping and finishing, and welding/soldering techniques. The role demands high eye-hand coordination, attention to detail, and proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.

Job Summary:

Individuals assigned to the Sheet Metal Worker position are responsible for operating specialized machines that cut, form, and finish the fabrication and/or repair of sheet metal items. This position requires various technical skills including TIG (GTAW) welding, soldering, math and print reading

Responsibilities:

  • Operates metal bending machines and TIG (GTAW) welding equipment to fabricate and repair a variety of sheet metal items
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and schematics for the manufacturing of sheet metal products
  • Repairs a variety of sheet metal items
  • Makes precise measurements and replicates products from raw material incorporating Disney Show Standards and ensures that the end product meets all industry and safety standards
  • Possesses a high degree of eye and hand coordination
  • Ability to create a flat pattern from prints

Basic Qualifications:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
The Sheet Metal Worker position requires journeyman-level experience including:
  • Set up and operation of fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers to cut, bend, block and form or straighten materials
  • Shaping metal material over an anvil, block or other form, using hand tools
  • Trimming, filing, grinding, de-burring, buffing and smoothing surfaces, using hand tools or portable-power tools
  • TIG (GTAW) welding with aluminum and stainless steel, soldering, bolting, riveting, screwing, clipping, caulking and bonding component parts to assemble products using hand tools, power tools, and other specialized equipment

SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am. Please note that the principles of seniority are used to schedule all roles.

The pay rate for this role in California is $38.40 to $46.85 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
