Job Summary

Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at Google Chrome, you'll contribute to building a better, more open web. Responsibilities include writing product/system code, participating in design reviews, code reviews, maintaining and enhancing software solutions, debugging and resolving system issues, and contributing to documentation. You'll work on projects critical to Google's needs, managing priorities and deadlines. Chrome is available across major platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS) and is an open-source project. The role demands versatility, leadership, and the ability to tackle full-stack challenges.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • 2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Code development, review, and debugging
  • Project management and deadline adherence
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience with accessible technologies
  • Experience with performance & large-scale systems
  • Proficiency in system health diagnosis and resolution
  • Software test engineering experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
