Job Description

Google's Software Engineer III position focuses on improving Zamm infrastructure to enhance collaboration and predictability for Googlers, SREs, and cloud operators. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining Zamm infrastructure components and features; developing software and infrastructure with a focus on long-term maintainability; troubleshooting test infrastructure issues; designing and building modular systems; and fostering engineering best practices. The role involves working towards better, more efficient administration of production environments and the spread of SRE best practices. This position offers the opportunity to influence Google's technical design, quality, processes, and team culture.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with programming languages (Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++)
  • Back-end coding experience
  • Design, implement, maintain Zamm infrastructure components
  • Develop maintainable software and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues
  • Build modular systems to solve complex problems

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with programming languages e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++.
  • Experience in back-end coding.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with some of the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
  • Experience developing production software.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams.
  • Ability to work independently on challenging problems and passion for quality.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex issues.

  • Design, implement, land and maintaining components and features of Zamm infrastructure.
  • Develop software and infrastructure with a focus on long-term maintainability.

  • Foster engineering best practices in testing, code reviews, and development.
