We collaborate with game teams and industry partners and also publish our research within our industry and to the public. We pursue long-term applied research yet stay relevant to the present by delivering artifacts along the way to game teams and technology groups inside EA. Some of our research includes bringing digital characters to life, using machine learning for game AI and content creation, and developing novel real-time graphics & physics techniques.
We're seeking a PhD candidate with strong Machine Learning skills and research experience in Generative AI. Preference will be given to those with experience in video-based diffusion models. The aim is to develop a generative video model to transform game development. We want to explore various applications of these models within gaming, spanning both 2D and 3D domains.
At SEED you will be working with a talented, distributed, multi-disciplinary team of programmers, technical artists, and researchers - where you will participate in the development of graphics technology for future EA games. This is a diverse team with big ambitions, and we expect you to work with a wide range of tasks as well as take initiative. Does this make you curious? What skills does SEED look for?
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, or a related field.
Experience with programming languages like Python or C++.
Proficient in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Skilled in training machine learning models, including data collection, implementation, and evaluation.
Publications, presentations, or related contributions in generative AI or computer vision research.

You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the summer of 2025.
We are only considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2025, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2025. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full time basis during the 12-week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the hourly pay ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, degree type (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), what stage you are in your degree journey (i.e. freshman, sophomore, etc.), qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
HOURLY PAY RANGES
California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $49 - $77 USD Hourly
New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $49 - $77 USD Hourly
Jersey City, NJ : º $49 - $77 USD Hourly
Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $46 - $67 USD Hourly
Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $53 - $73 USD Hourly
The pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k). Interns in California are also eligible for Voluntary Disability Insurance.
