Google is seeking a Software Engineer, Mobile, Android to contribute to the development and maintenance of Android applications. Responsibilities include writing product or system development code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code from other developers, contributing to documentation, and troubleshooting product issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with Android application development, data structures and algorithms, and one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript. This role involves working on projects critical to Google's needs, with opportunities for growth and evolution within the company. The position requires managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and enhancing software solutions. Android is Google’s open-source mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 year software development experience
  • 1 year experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Android app development experience
  • Code writing, review, and debugging
  • Contribute to documentation
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS
  • Experience with large-scale systems
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience with Android application development.
  • 1 year of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
