Job Description

We are seeking a Special Projects Manager to join our high-impact team. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering trajectory-changing, business outcome-focused projects across various teams and at the company level. This role requires a commercially minded, strategic, and analytical individual who is excited about solving tough, ambiguous business problems with rigor and effective execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, identify process optimization opportunities, drive problem-solving through research and data, and analyze data to inform strategic decisions. The role also involves developing and tracking project plans and KPIs, and mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate has a founder mindset, resilience, strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and thrives in an ambiguous, data-led environment.

About our Special Projects Team:

You will be part of a small and high impact team of commercially minded, strategic, and analytically driven generalists. We shape and deliver trajectory-changing and business outcome focused projects across teams and at the Monzo level for C-Suite, GMs and senior stakeholders in the different parts of our business like Core Banking, Borrowing, Wealth, Business Banking, Operations, etc.

To succeed, you should be excited about solving tough, ambiguous business problems with analytical rigour, commercial viability and execution effectiveness.  You’ll be working on a wide range of projects, collaborating with partners and colleagues across areas like product, data and marketing; operating in a high pace and ambiguous environment. 

Examples of projects our team delivers include: seeding new products and business lines, delivering business transformation initiatives, expansion into new geographies, super-charging product growth, M&A, and high-impact partnerships.

Your day to day might look like:

  • Leading and executing trajectory changing, cross-functional projects that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, operations, and engineering teams to problem solve jointly and deliver initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize processes, drive efficiencies, and enhance project outcomes across Monzo.
  • Drive problem solving, research and data gathering to inform decision-making and project strategies.
  • Own analysing data, customer needs, market, competitive insights and commercial analyses to inform strategic decision-making
  • Develop and track project plans, KPIs, and success metrics, ensuring timely progress and measurable results.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

The Interview Process:

Our interview process consists of four main stages with a total of six interviews:

  • Recruiter Call – 30 minutes
  • Initial Call – 30 minutes
  • Take-Home Task – Completed independently
  • Final Interviews:
    • Two live case study interviews (60 minutes each)
    • One behavioral interview (60 minutes)
