Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer at Google Cloud Platform, you will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, influence and coach a distributed team of engineers, and facilitate alignment across teams. Responsibilities include managing project priorities, designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. This role requires a minimum of 8 years of software development experience, proficiency in data structures/algorithms, and experience with languages like Java, C/C++, or Python. Experience in software testing, product launches, design, and architecture is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organization.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
Proficiency in Java, C/C++, or Python
Software testing and launch experience
Software design and architecture experience

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in a related field
Technical leadership experience
Experience in a complex, matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, etc.).
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
