Vice President, Corporate Development

The Corporate Development team Identify, evaluate & execute potential M&A, investment and partnership Opportunities. We Utilize market and product data to inform decisions around our M&A strategy and execution, including building detailed analyses for review by our executive team when evaluating potential partnership opportunities. 

What will you do:

The Vice President of Corporate Development, reporting to the SVP of Corporate Development, will be responsible for managing Scopely’s corporate development efforts and maintaining relationships with development studios across China. Scopely is looking for a hard-charging M&A and investment professional who will execute on Scopely’s strategic initiatives in the region, including acquiring and otherwise entering into strategic partnerships with game developers. Scopely is looking for an industry expert who understands both the challenges of making acquisitions and investments in China and has experience executing on such deals.

• You will work closely with members of Scopely’s global corporate development team, our slate development group, and others, to ensure that Scopely expands its presence in China, continuing to build out a world-class studio ecosystem 
• You will help identify, build relationships with and execute on acquisitions of world-class game developers
• You will identify development studios to partner with for existing Scopely games, games in development and new titles to bring into the Scopely ecosystem
• You will articulate the Scopely vision and the details of the Scopely operating system to potential partners, and identify how we can most effectively partner with studios
• You will travel throughout China and will need to have an appreciation for and understanding of the way Scopely can acquire, invest and otherwise partner with Chinese studios
• You will build relationships over the years and have an endurance style business approach
• You will forge strong relationships with premier independent game developers and the key people they employ, gaining an understanding of the challenges they face and goals they hope to achieve

What you will need: 

• 7+ years of corporate development, M&A and investment experience
• English language fluency required
• A deep understanding of the videogame industry and how it is evolving
• A strong track record of executing on M&A and investment deals in China
• A proactive, entrepreneurial approach; we’re looking for a self-starter who is obsessed with improving the way we work with partners and how great games are made
• Strategic acumen, coupled with a growth mindset
• The desire to work and play well with others
