Job Description
As a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Data Analytics, you will provide support to customers making the switch to Google Cloud. You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You will help Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for our customers' issues. You will be required to work in a shift pattern or non-standard work hours as needed. This may include weekend work.
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience reading or debugging code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript).
- 2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
Good to have:
- Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications.
- Experience with SQL database administration, open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing.
- Experience with open source distributed storage and processing utilities in the Apache Hadoop family or workflow orchestration products.
- Experience working in a dynamic organization with extensive cross-collaboration across functions.
- Understanding of web technologies and TCP/IP concepts, Unix/Linux basic administration and commands.
- Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills in a fluid environment.

You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. - Develop an in-depth understanding of Google Cloud's Data analytics products (like BigQuery, Dataproc, etc.) and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, along with building tools and documents for faster diagnosis.
- Act as consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
- Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24-hour customer support. This will include a need to work non-standard work hours/shifts, including weekend work.
- Understand customer issues, advocate for their needs with internal teams, including product and engineering teams and drive high-quality production.
