The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with MS SQL Server database administration, Active Directory, and exposure to other database platforms. The role requires excellent knowledge of multiple database platforms, operating systems, networking, storage, and database design principles.

About the client: Our client is a UK subsidiary of a global financial house working in multiple markets and asset classes.
About the project: We're seeking for a talented and enthusiastic MS SQL Server/Oracle SME who will be responsible for, as part of a team, directing the architecture, configuration, integration, monitoring and development support of client database applications and associated resources.
The ideal candidate will have experience in MS Server database and specifics of Cloud solutions. This role will be focused on buildouts of new environments and overall heath and support of existed database systems. In this role you will also work to establishing best practices, standards in security, manage projects, actively participate in systems architecture events to create innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION:

Responsible for managing, maintaining, enhancing and strategic development of all database related technologies in EMEA as well as internationally for the Securities Business.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

The Database Operations team are responsible for providing 24x7 RDBMS and NoSQL database support in EMEA and internationally for the Securities Business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for ensuring daily health and compliance checks are performed for all Production systems.

Responsible for ensuring database systems are backed up successfully and any issues are promptly resolved

Responsible for ensuring database jobs are running successfully and any issues are promptly resolved.

Responsible for ensuring database monitoring alerts are detected promptly and satisfactorily resolved.

Responsible for ensuring sufficient capacity is available to accommodate projected BAU growth.

Responsible for ensuring all emails sent to the team distribution list are responded to in a timely manner.

Responsible for ensuring problem tickets and service requests are handled with efficiency and the customer in mind.

Responsible for ensuring database platforms are highly available, reliable, secure and performant.

Responsible for database installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades and general maintenance activities.

Responsible for providing technical support to application support and development teams.

Responsible for providing consultancy to application support and development teams on database and systems design.

Responsible for executing disaster recovery procedures when necessary.

Responsible for applying database security updates as per defined policies.

Responsible for reviewing and subsequently remediating items detected by Qualys vulnerability and compliance scans.

Responsible for ensuring that all project/investment related workloads are delivered according to plans and budget defined.

Responsible for ensuring all operational procedures are kept current and accurate.

Responsible for participating in On-Call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.

Responsible for identifying cost saving and optimisation opportunities within MUS EMEA and the wider MUFG group.

Responsible for building strong relationships across the Bank and Securities with other Bank and Securities functions and businessareas, underpinned by trust and the core values of the bank.

We need MSSQL Database Administration primarily

Essential:

-We are looking for a SQL Server DBA SME with Active Directory experience and some exposure to any of Sybase / Oracle / MongoDB / Snowflake.

Excellent knowledge of multiple database platforms such as MSSQL, Sybase, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Excellent knowledge of configuring Linux and Windows operating systems for optimal database performance.

Excellent knowledge of networking, storage, server and virtualization layers.

Excellent knowledge of logical and physical database design.

Excellent knowledge of database installation and configuration.

Excellent knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.

Excellent knowledge of database performance and tuning.

Excellent knowledge of database migrations and upgrades.

Excellent knowledge of clustering and high-availability.

Excellent knowledge of replication and disaster recovery.

Excellent knowledge of database security and auditing.

Excellent knowledge of data security governance and regulations such as GDPR and SOX.
