Job Description

The Compliance Specialist will analyze regulations related to banking products, assess action plans, manage deadlines, and build relationships with squads. They will also prepare training, handle inquiries from regulators, and contribute to the approval of new products. The role involves interpreting regulations, summarizing changes, and working with KPIs, requiring strong communication, negotiation, and autonomy. The specialist will prevent and detect anomalies, support business areas, and provide regulatory analysis. The team ensures Nubank's compliance with applicable regulations, coordinating regulator requests and assessing new regulations. The role is responsible for mapping and quantifying regulatory risks, providing a safe environment to support the decision-making process.
Must have:
  • Experience in interpreting banking product regulations.
  • Ability to summarize the main changes of a new rule.
  • Experience in assessing and implementing regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Prior experience in regulatory compliance or risk management.
Good to have:
  • Experience working with KPIs/KRIs and dashboards.
  • Knowledge of JIRA, automation, queries, SQL, or programming languages.

About the team

The Compliance team has an important mission at Nubank: ensure that we are compliant with applicable regulations. That means we need to understand both the regulation and our business, so we can act in a true partnership with our internal clients, and not only be a distributor of new rules. Our team is responsible for managing the regulator's relationship and coordinating regulators requests (inquiries and inspections). Also, compliance has an important role assessing new regulations and new products bringing awareness and assisting the internal stakeholders to guarantee the consistent regulatory adherence 

The team is responsible for mapping and quantifying regulatory risks of products/processes in order to properly manage them, providing a safe environment to support the decision-making process and the sustainability of Nubank.

 

What you will do

Deep analysis of regulations and understand their impacts in products and environment, being hungry to go after information and knowledge by himself/herself;

Assess and challenge the action plans defined by business units and monitor their implementation;

Manage activities and prioritization to meet internal and regulatory deadlines;

Connect and have a good relationship with squads, be able to negotiate deadlines, implementations, knowing when you need to escalate some situation;

Be assertive and objective when writing and presenting regulatory matters (advisories and tracking);

Support to business areas, assisting in decision making;

Regulatory analysis in the approval flow of new products, services or features;

Prevention and detection of anomalies that may result in regulatory gaps;

Prepare and present training related to compliance matters;

Inquiries: to coordinate, monitor and answer inspections/requests from the regulators.

 

What we are looking for

Experience in interpretation of a regulation related to banking products and processes (Central Bank regulation);

Interpretation and strong logical thinking;

Ability to summarize the main changes/to-do's of a new rule;

Experience in assessing, implementing or providing consultancy of a Central Bank regulation;

Experience working in structuring and measuring KPIs/KRIs, presenting information in dashboards and reports format;

Excellent communication skills: structured and objective;

Negotiation and prioritization skills;

Ability to work autonomously;

Stakeholder management and influencing skills;

Motivation, hungry for learning new things,versatility;

Intermediate or Advanced English;

Previous exposure to to activities related to regulatory compliance, financial products/services regulatory matters and/or risk management in a financial or tech company for at least 3 years;

JIRA, automation, queries, SQL, or other programming languages (to extract and manipulate data) would be a PLUS.
