As a Front Page Editor at Yahoo Finance, you will play a critical role in curating and editing content for the front page of one of the world's leading financial news platforms. Your primary responsibility will be to drive engagement and ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and compelling news stories to our audience. This position requires a deep understanding of the financial markets, excellent editorial judgment, and strong communication skills. You will work closely with a talented team of editors, writers, and producers to deliver high-quality content that informs and educates our millions of readers.
Responsibilities:
Run finance.yahoo.com from 8 p.m. ET to 3 a.m. ET (subject to change)
Ensure proper handoffs with the West Coast and UK front page editors
Monitor news flow, curate and edit stories to ensure Yahoo Finance’s home page and related pages reflect the best version of Yahoo Finance at any given moment
Edit stories as needed
Write stories as needed
Drive engagement and ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and compelling news stories to our audience
Support various other aspects of Yahoo Finance editorial, including: data, distribution, push alerts, social publishing, and general quality control
Exercise strong financial news judgment across a variety of topics
Stay up to date with the latest financial news and market trends to help ensure Yahoo Finance maintains its position as the leading financial news source
Required Qualifications:
At least 5 years experience working in an editorial function at a media organization
Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and collaboration skills, continuing the Yahoo Finance team’s day of success and helping to position it for more success the following day
Enthusiasm for financial news, learning about new topics, and distribution of content
Strong framing and headline-writing skills
Proficiency in SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engine visibility and user engagement
Strong copy-editing skills and command of grammar and style
Strong news judgment for making real-time decisions
Ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
B.A. preferred or equivalent job experience
Front page editing experience
Knowledge of SEO best practices
