Operations Manager

Final Strike Games (FSG) seeks a meticulous and highly organized Operations Manager to oversee the financial and operational functions critical to our studio's success. In this role, you will manage key aspects of financial compliance, drive operations strategy, and ensure that deadlines are consistently met. You'll be the key project manager overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely payroll, tax filings, and cost-saving strategies. You will also work cross-functionally to ensure that business operations run smoothly and effectively, helping to foster growth and innovation within the team. Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Compliance:
- Financial Compliance: In partnership with accounting firms in Canada and the US, ensure that all financial operations adhere to regulatory standards and that the company complies with tax laws and reporting requirements in all regions (Canada, US).
- Payroll & Benefits: Manage payroll and employee benefits for US and Canadian teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing in partnership with payroll companies like ADP in Canada.
- Manage the financial compliance calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met, and create processes to ensure the timely execution of critical tasks.
- Oversee the completion of tax filings, tax credit applications, and other financial compliance requirements, working closely with external accounting firms.
- Manage business insurance policies and maintain compliance with legal and insurance requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date financials for investor discussions and internal reporting.
- Generate professional invoices using QuickBooks and ensure timely payment from partners.
- Manage financial reporting, tracking, and documentation to meet all deadlines consistently.
- Track and manage compliance for state filings related to remote employees.
Operations Strategy & Project Management:
- Drive Operations Strategy: Lead and implement strategies to improve business operations and streamline internal processes to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the creation of Statements of Work (SOWs) and contracts with external vendors, ensuring they align with overall business goals.
- Manage and audit company expenditures, identifying opportunities to optimize spend and save resources.
- Oversee office space leases, corporate asset tracking, and other operational aspects to ensure the business runs efficiently.
- Coordinate with various departments to plan and execute team events, including holiday parties and offsite activities.
Team Support & Coordination:
- Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring all documentation and processes are followed.
- Manage benefits programs for US and Canadian employees, ensuring that all team members have access to comprehensive health coverage.
- Provide ongoing support for immigration management, working with external partners to ensure smooth visa and work permit processes for employees.
- Manage reporting and HR-related tasks using BambooHR, ensuring that all data is updated and accurate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven experience in financial and operations management (3+ years preferred), with a track record of driving operational efficiency and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong background in financial compliance, tax reporting, payroll, and benefits management.
- Experience in managing budgets, financial forecasts, and audits.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks and other financial tools used for invoicing and payroll management.
- Project management experience, particularly in driving operational strategies to improve business processes and reduce inefficiencies.
- Meticulous at creating and formatting clean, accurate & professional business documents.
- Software Skills:
- Expertise with QuickBooks, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and Microsoft Word.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Confluence, photo sizing/editing, and WordPress.
- Education:
- A degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
