CEDA is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist for its Fort McKay Industrial Park location. The role involves supporting project execution through accurate forecasting, scheduling, cost control, and progress reporting. Key responsibilities include managing project setup, developing process documents for estimating and planning, assisting with work scope definitions and budgets, and providing cost control and progress measurement support. The specialist will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, provide estimating and bidding support, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Must have:
  • Minimum 5 years of project controls experience
  • Advanced knowledge of project controls
  • Knowledge of change management theories
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and PowerBi
  • Ability to control costs for projects over $10M annually
  • Valid Class 5 license with no more than 5 demerits in 3 years
Good to have:
  • Experience in the Mechanical Services Industry
  • Project Management Professional certification

Job Description

CEDA is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Project Controls Specialist to join our team, based out of our Fort McKay Industrial Park location. As part of one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of projects by delivering accurate forecasting, scheduling, cost control, and progress reporting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the setup of projects full cycle, in accordance with the company policies and procedures
  • Develop process documents for estimating, planning, and workflow
  • Assist with the development of work scope definitions, preliminary estimates, budgets, schedule scope change and resource requirements
  • Work directly with operational divisions, providing support in all project control related areas including cost control, progress measurement and schedule control
  • Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and tracking
  • Provide estimating and bidding support, along with project cost, schedule, progress measurement, and change management support
  • Provide regular stewardship reports for contract performance
  • Maintain compliance with all company, local, provincial, and federal health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Assist with the implementation and progressing of Client's Project Control initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned 

Role Specifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ of project controls experience with cost and schedule control is required
  • Advanced knowledge of project controls (principles, theories, concepts, practices, processes, expectations)is required
  • Knowledge of change management theories and processes is required
  • Experience in the Mechanical Services Industry is an asset
  • Project Management Professional certification is an asset
  • Proven ability to control costs across multiple projects for +10M annual budget
  • Versed in the MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel) and PowerBi.
  • Possess a knowledge and understanding of contracting, negotiating, and change management theories
  • Able to provide a negative result on pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Valid Class 5 licence with no more than 5 demerits in the last 3 years is required
