The Challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Real-Time VFX Artist with a passion for creating stunning visual effects that elevate the gaming experience across multiple platforms, from mobile to PC. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the visual spectacle of our games, crafting eye-catching effects that immerse players in dynamic and interactive worlds. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of real-time particle systems, shader development, and optimization techniques, along with a keen eye for visual aesthetics and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in real-time VFX for gaming.

What You Can Expect To Work On

  • Gameplay Visuals: Design and create visually stunning real-time visual effects for gameplay elements, including explosions, magic spells, environmental effects, weapon effects, and character abilities, ensuring they are both visually appealing and performance across different platforms.
  • Multi-Platform Expertise: Optimise and adapt VFX assets for various platforms, including mobile devices, consoles, and PCs, maintaining visual fidelity while adhering to performance constraints and platform-specific requirements for gaming hardware.
  • Technical Experience: Utilise industry-standard software such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary tools to create, implement, and optimise real-time VFX, demonstrating proficiency in particle systems, shader development, and texture authoring specific to gaming environments.
  • Collaborative Vision: Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure seamless integration of VFX into the game world, contributing to the overall visual style, gameplay feedback, and narrative of the game.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyse and optimise VFX performance to ensure smooth gameplay and maintain high frame rates across different hardware configurations, utilising profiling tools and employing best practices for real-time optimization specific to gaming applications.
  • Innovation and Exploration: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in real-time VFX technology and techniques specific to gaming, continuously seeking ways to improve the visual quality and performance of your work, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in real-time VFX for gaming.

Requirements

What You Need to Succeed

  • Portfolio: Demonstrating expertise in real-time VFX for games across multiple platforms, showcasing particle systems, shaders, and textures.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) and VFX software (Houdini, Maya, EmberGen).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of real-time rendering, optimization, and performance profiling tools.
  • Collaborative: Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail: committed to delivering high-quality work within project timelines.

About The Company

In Southeast Asia (SEA), unicorn exits and tech company listings have proven to offer founders and investors unrealistic expectations, given the maturity of the market. This dilemma has left founders in a challenging position as they have to optimise for the outsized outcomes investors that follow Western narratives desire, while facing the reality of the consumer landscape.

At LiquidX, we aim to shift this narrative and demonstrate that it is possible to achieve large-scale outcomes by using a distinct approach to company building. Through a holding company (holdco) structure, we will build multiple cash flow-positive businesses that can, but do not necessarily have to, rely on venture scale narratives.

The usual arguments against this approach are as follows: 

 1) The focus of founders will be divided, hence ineffective.

 2) We won’t be able to get top-tier talent to build companies this way.

 3) That Venture scale outcomes are not possible.

We believe all 3 arguments above are false narratives, and aim to prove that this new (to tech) model of company building is the optimal approach for emerging markets. Along this journey, we aspire to ensure that everyone involved enjoys the process.
