One Of Us is a visual effects studio founded in London in 2004 by co-directors Rachael Penfold, Dominic Parker and Tom Debenham.

The Creature Supervisor oversees the technical and creative development of character and creature setups across Rigging and CFX, ensuring smooth integration into production. They collaborate closely with other departments to maintain efficiency and consistency. While leading the team, they remain hands-on, solving challenges and optimizing workflows to support high-quality character and creature performances.
Responsibilities
Oversee Rigging & CFX workflows, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and production-ready.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Rigging and CFX teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and technical excellence.
Identify training needs and flag performance concerns to HODs and crewing to support team development.
Develop and maintain rigs that meet both technical and animation needs, ensuring realistic deformations and intuitive controls.
Develop CFX workflows (cloth, hair, fur, muscle, and skin), ensuring believable secondary motion and integration with animation.
Optimize workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and improve efficiency across multiple shows.
Create and maintain tools using Python and PySide to automate tasks, streamline workflows, and enhance usability.
Work with the Pipeline team to ensure tools integrate seamlessly into the studio’s pipeline while utilizing Git and version control.
Actively contribute to rigging and CFX tasks, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring high-quality results.
Oversee ROM (Range of Motion) testing to ensure rigs and simulations meet production needs before handoff to animation.
Collaborate with Animation, Modeling, and Pipeline teams to ensure rigs and CFX simulations integrate smoothly across departments.
Support production planning by providing technical input on asset breakdowns and workflow reviews if required.
Key Skills & Attributes
Proficient in Maya for rigging and Houdini for fur, cloth, hair, muscle, tissue, and skin simulations.
Strong understanding of anatomy, behavior, and motion, ensuring realistic rigging and CFX setups.
Expertise in rigging workflows, deformation systems, and simulation techniques.
Proficiency in Python and PySide for developing automation tools and workflow improvements.
Experience with Git and version control for managing tools across shows.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot both rigging and CFX challenges.
A team leader—approachable, motivational, and adaptable.

Experience Needed
Proven experience in rigging and CFX workflows for VFX or animation production.
Demonstrated ability to create high-quality rigs and CFX simulations.
Experience working closely with Animation, Assets, and CFX teams to ensure seamless workflows.
Strong track record of developing tools for rigging and CFX using Python and PySide.
Familiarity with pipeline integration and version control systems (Git).
Prior team leadership or mentorship experience, with a focus on workflow improvement and technical excellence.
Additional Notes
The Creature Supervisor ensures rigging and CFX workflows align with studio-wide goals, collaborating closely with Pipeline, Animation, and Assets teams to maintain efficiency and consistency.
While the studio values work-life balance, some flexibility may be required to meet production deadlines.

Hours and location
Our core hours are 9.30am to 6.30pm or 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday.
We have a great office in Old Street where you would be based. This is an office based role where initially you would be required to work from the studio up to 5 days of the week depending on the volume of client reviews. We would offer flexibility on your hours in the studio with some home working possible.
