The Senior Business Strategy Manager will drive strategic direction for Microsoft's Cloud Supply Chain, performing analysis to identify gaps and recommend improvements. This role involves developing communication materials, leading cross-functional teams, and managing strategic projects. Responsibilities include conducting analyses, synthesizing findings, leading implementation of strategic projects, partnering with various teams to ensure supply chain resiliency, and leading communications with executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in management consulting, supply chain strategy, and high-tech sourcing.

Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver capacity for all cloud services predictably through intelligent systems driven by continuous learning and a world class organization. The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

 

Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Sustainability & Security (CS4) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.

 

We are looking for a supply chain professional to help create sustainable advantage through supply chain. We are looking for a Senior Business Strategy Manager who will be focused on these key areas:

  • Drive direction: Provide thought-leadership and define strategic agenda for Microsoft Cloud Supply Chain.
  • Perform analysis and develop recommendation: collect external and internal cross-functional data, drive analysis, identify gap, recommend improvement actions.
  • Develop communication material and influence: own development of communication material, drive alignment with cross-functional teams and lead executive-level communication.
  • Manage strategy projects and track progress: Partner with cross-functional teams to drive actions, bring strategy to life and deliver results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 3+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience  
    • OR equivalent experience.  
  • 2+ years of experience in Management Consulting, Supply Chain Strategy or Corporate Strategy.
  • 2+ years of experience in high-tech sourcing, Supply Chain.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

 

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 6+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience.

Business Strategy IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Business Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Conduct analysis, synthesize findings, develop recommendations to drive supply chain strategies.
    • Topics ranging from industry intelligence and benchmarking, mid to long-term operations/ supply chain optimization, to firefighting and resolving short-term Supply Chain and Sourcing challenges  
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive implementation of strategic projects: from defining plan, monitoring progress, tracking KPI to delivering result and institutionalize. 
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Sourcing and Engineering teams to ensure supply chain resiliency is built-in at product launch, with diversified supply base and geography. 
  • Lead communications with exec and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment, ensure execution and report progress.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams on Supply chain and Sourcing related initiatives, e.g., Sustainability, government policy.
  • Serve as trusted advisor and support other Supply Chain and Sourcing teams on fact-based analysis and communication material development.
