Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead a team of engineers functioning as a 'virtual device vendor' for Google Global Networks. Responsibilities include overseeing networking technology, software development lifecycle, and software/hardware testing at scale. You'll manage a large product budget and international deployments. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills to manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, and the ability to contribute to product strategy and team development. The ideal candidate possesses a background in building high-performing teams and experience in hiring, coaching, and supporting team leaders. You will motivate the team, foster ownership, define the mission, and rally the team towards its goals.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
8+ years software development experience
5+ years technical leadership experience
5+ years people management experience
Lead and manage engineering teams
Oversee networking technology and development lifecycle

Good to have:

5 years experience in data centers/scale operations
Experience designing and implementing large-scale systems
Network Test Automation, Networking Protocols, and Network Troubleshooting experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

5 years of experience in data centers, networking or scale operations.
Experience in designing and implementing scale, real-time software systems.
Experience in Network Test Automation, Networking Protocols, and Network Troubleshooting.
