Job Description

The Senior Technical Artist will be responsible for establishing the technical foundation for visuals, performance, and scalability in a competitive PvP first-person shooter being developed in Unreal Engine 5. The role involves developing and optimizing materials and shaders, configuring physical materials, managing texture groups, setting up mesh LODs, establishing lighting, and configuring cameras and visual effects. The artist will also be managing instance culling, occlusion culling, and level streaming, while also documenting processes and creating reusable visual pipelines. This role requires strong experience in Unreal Engine 5, asset workflows, rendering pipelines, and communication skills.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist
  • 2+ years in Unreal Engine 5
  • Understanding of asset workflows and rendering pipelines

  • Ability to estimate tasks and collaborate with leads

Room 8 Group is an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Working across all platforms, we provide creative and technical expertise across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA for AAA and AA games.

Our Game Development team provides comprehensive co-dev and full-cycle dev solutions, across all platforms. We’ve helped make some of the biggest games of the past decade, like Call of Duty:

Modern Warfare II and III, and we work with dozens of the world’s biggest publishers and developers.

Through primarily organic growth, we are proudly independent, now home to around 1,100 creatives based in Europe, North America, and South America.

We’re building a competitive PvP first-person shooter, currently in the early prototyping phase. Our team is seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Artist with a strong background in Unreal Engine 5 to help establish the technical foundation for visuals, performance, and scalability.

Superpowers you have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist, including 2+ years in Unreal Engine 5

  • Strong understanding of asset workflows, rendering pipelines, and performance optimization

  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive mindset

  • Ability to estimate tasks, identify blockers, and collaborate with tech leads and production

You’re a rockstar if you have:

  • Experience with HLSL and Python scripting

  • A solid grasp of low-level rendering principles and graphics systems
