Job Description

The Site Quality Engineer - Civil will be responsible for ensuring the quality of civil works at the site, specifically for water supply projects. They will create and maintain quality documentation, understand raw material testing, coordinate with contractors, review material test certificates, conduct cube testing, and address any cube failures. Additionally, they will provide quality training, conduct inspections, document deviations, communicate non-conformities, and monitor contractor performance. This role involves resolving construction quality issues, identifying preventive actions, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulations. The engineer will play a key role in a large energy project called ITER, developing the largest experimental fusion reactor.

Must have:

Create and maintain civil quality documentation.
Understand raw materials testing such as cement, sand, aggregate.
Understanding of IS10262 requirements.
Understanding of IS456 requirements.
Coordinate with the contractor for FQP agreements and design mix finalization.
Review of MTC of all raw materials.
Conduct cube testing as per IS 456.
Conduct site quality training.

Project Details

ITER represents a large energy project. This project is aiming at developing the largest experimental fusion reactor that has ever been built, in order to offer an inexhaustible, safe, and environmentally friendly source of energy. ITER is a unique global collaboration involving a European Union Joint Undertaking, which bears half the cost of the project, and six non-European countries: the United States, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia. The project requires unprecedented engineering services.

Within this major site, the largest helium and nitrogen production plant in the world is being built

The cryogenic plant will produce liquid nitrogen (equipment supplied by Europe) used in the "pre-cooling" processes of the liquid helium production unit (under the responsibility of the ITER Management) as well as for cooling the thermal shield. A complex system of cooling lines (supplied by India) will ensure the distribution of Helium. The plant will be much larger and more powerful than those required for the existing superconducting tokamaks.

ITER Management has appointed Assystem, as part of 2 entities as representative to:

perform design studies and construction management activities for the buildings (including services) and site infrastructures
perform construction management activities for IO’s systems including the TOKAMAK machine

Job Description

Purpose/ Profile Summary:

Candidate shall have complete understanding of quality requirement related to civil works at site. The personnel shall be responsible for quality of civil work of water supply projects

Roles & Responsibilities:

Performs following functions including but not limited to:

Create, process, complete and maintain accurate civil quality documentation and records associated with the Projects.
Should have complete understanding of raw materials testing like cement, sand aggregate etc.
Understanding of IS10262 requirements.
Understanding of IS456 requirements.
Co-ordinate with contractor for FQP agreements, design mix finalization.
Review of MTC of all raw materials as per design / std requirement.
Cube testing as per IS 456.
Co-ordination with contractor in case of cube failure.
Conduct the site quality training for internal team and to the contractor.
Ensure and perform site quality verification inspections and maintain job specific meetings minutes & necessary logs.
Dail site quality works witness as per approved QAP.
Identification & records of deviations/ observation/ NCs
Communication to internal and external (contractors) related to weekly observation/ NCs.
Follow-up to interested parties for site non-conformity closer.
Weekly & monthly reporting on non-conformity status.
Contractor wise record maintenance for contractor performance evaluation.
Resolution of construction quality from site and visit the as on when required.
Identify preventive actions for continual improvement.

Qualifications

BE civil with 10 years years of experience out of which min 7 years in Water supply field as Quality Engineer
