Job Description

The Visual Effects Designer is responsible for designing, producing, and delivering digital media content for Disney theme parks, events, and shows globally. Responsibilities include creating visual media using 3D and 2D tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D, Maya, Unreal Engine), assisting in motion graphic enhancements, executing rendering and quality control, collaborating with project teams, addressing media requirements, and developing assets for digital media production. The role involves partnering with external resources and providing technical advice to producers. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
Must have:
  • 3+ years VFX & motion graphics experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D, Maya, or Unreal Engine
  • VFX design & animation experience
  • 2D/3D modeling, compositing, keying, roto expertise
  • Strong portfolio showcasing quality work
  • Teamwork & presentation skills

  • Advanced 3D modeling (Maya)
  • Experience with Watchout, Hippo, VYV, Playback Pro

The Visual Effects Designer is responsible for the design, production, and delivery of digital media content for Disney theme parks, events, and shows worldwide.

This is a casual temporary/seasonal role, and you will report to the Visual Media Studio Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Create visual media through the use of 3D and/or 2D toolsets such as Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D, Maya, and Unreal Engine
  • Assist the editorial process with motion graphic enhancements
  • Execute rendering and quality control of show files using department render facilities
  • Collaborate and interact with the overall project team, department staff, and members of other Live Entertainment disciplines
  • Address requirements of the media to be created and provide input
  • Work under the guidance of producer and project leaders
  • Develop and create assets for digital media production
  • Partner with outside resources and/or vendors
  • Serve as a resource for Producers as necessary to provide technical advice

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Visual Effects and motion graphics design
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in two or more of the following software: Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe After Effects, Photoshop), Cinema 4D, Maya, and Unreal Engine
  • Proven professional Visual Effects design and animation experience
  • Design experience in 2D graphics and illustration and/or 3D Modeling
  • Experience with digital compositing, digital media formats, codecs, keying, roto work, and resolutions
  • Portfolio of work and proven abilities to create quality product
  • Proficiencies in creating assets for editorial processes
  • Proficient in industry-standard plugin packages from Red Giant and Video Co-Pilot
  • Ability to work with a team to develop concepts and design elements
  • Proven ability to communicate and present to department level Producers
  • Willingness for occasional travel to domestic and foreign venues for possible extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Theme Park experience and knowledge of live event content
  • Content creation for entertainment media shows, events, and projection mapping
  • Experience in advanced 3D modeling applications like Maya
  • Working knowledge of media playback systems such as Watchout, Hippo, VYV, and/or Playback Pro
  • Building environments and content in Unreal Engine
  • Render farm and render management experience using Deadline

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience desired
