We are looking for a 2D art intern to join us and help continue delivering a long-running and beloved IP to our players, Plants vs. Zombies! This artist will report to the Senior Concept Artist, and work on an upcoming Plants vs. Zombies mobile title. You will rapidly develop concepts to drive creation of best in class visuals, bringing the world of Plants vs. Zombies to life. You have experience in art creation and leadership for mobile games with an eye for industry trends.
Responsibilities
Collaborate Concept Artists to understand artistic vision and create quick and detailed concepts of environments, characters, and prop
Attend ideation sessions, brainstorm visuals to accompany gameplay content and work together with narrative and game designers to ensure alignment across visuals and gameplay
Gather reference materials, and provide content for style guides, mood boards, and visual targets to communicate with external production artists
Ensure that produced and integrated assets respect the artistic vision of the game and meet the quality standards
Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in illustration, visual design skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated excellence in conceptual thinking skills
Excellent knowledge in Photoshop or other equivalent software
Ability to give and receive respectful, constructive feedback
Experience with Unity and/or any 3D software is an asset
Experience with animation is an asset
You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the summer of 2025. We are only considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2025, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2025. You must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the hourly pay ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, degree type (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), what stage you are in your degree journey (i.e. freshman, sophomore, etc.), qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
HOURLY PAY RANGES
California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $18 - $45 USD Hourly
Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $24 - $40
British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º $29 - $31 CAN Hourly
The hourly pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k). Interns in California are also eligible for Voluntary Disability Insurance.
