Job Description

The Advanced Animator, Cinematics role at NetherRealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., requires creating high-quality cinematic animation for the story mode campaign. The responsibilities include reviewing and critiquing outsourced animation, coordinating motion capture shoots, producing realistic character animations using hand-key techniques, and implementing animations in the game engine. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of character motion principles, the 3D animation pipeline and the ability to give clear animation direction. The role involves file management, organizing work, and collaborating with external partners. The creative team brought Mortal Kombat and Injustice to life.
Must have:
  • Strong Motion Builder or Maya user
  • Ability to give clear animation direction (written and verbal)
  • Strong grasp of traditional animation principles
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience working with remote/external partners
  • Experience working with talent during motion capture shoots
Good to have:
  • Familiar with Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Teaching experience
  • Experienced at developing content for Game Engines
  • Experience with Martial Arts/Fighting Games

Your New Role

NetherRealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc. seeks an Advanced Animator to be responsible for creating consistent, high-quality cinematic animation for our story mode campaign.

We’re seeking someone with a strong knowledge of the principles of character motion and the 3D animation pipeline, and that can work with external partners to produce a high quality and engaging experience for our players.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Kickoff, Review and critique outsourced character animation work

  • Help to coordinate, plan, and assist with Cinematic motion capture shoots

  • Produce high-quality realistic character animation content using hand-key techniques and adjusting motion capture data

  • Use proprietary tools to implement animation into game engine

  • File management – organize work/files efficiently

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong Motion Builder or Maya user

  • Ability to give clear animation direction (written and verbal)

  • Strong grasp of traditional animation principles

  • Highly organized.  Ability to manage multiple tasks at once

  • Experience working with remote/external partners

  • Experience working with talent during motion capture shoots

The Nice to Haves

  • Familiar with Unreal Engine 4/5

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $98,000.00 - $182,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
