Responsibilities encompass overseeing a portion of the show's work, including outsourced projects and collaboration with other ILM studios. This role requires pre-production tasks like crew assignment, pipeline setup, and creative input into bid meetings. During production, the Associate VFX Supervisor might drive the look of assets or effects, supervise assigned work, provide artist feedback, and contribute to production planning. Occasional client presentations and hands-on shot work may also be required. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills and a deep understanding of visual effects pipelines and methodologies.

Job Summary:

Associate VFX Supervisor, ILM Mumbai

The youngest of all of the ILM studios, the Mumbai studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at Industrial Light & Magic combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. Knowledge and culture flow freely between the company’s five studios and the global team contributes tools and workflow allowing for seamless teamwork on all joint projects.
As we grow ILM Mumbai, we are seeking an Associate VFX Supervisor to join the team and be a part of this exciting opportunity.
The Associate VFX Supervisor Serves as “right hand” to VFX Supervisor on assigned show with regards to show leadership, methodology and crewing as well as client management, as needed. Responsible for a body of work on a show such as outsourced work, ILM Singapore, split sequences, etc. Collaborates with the Producer and shows leadership to deliver the show on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

Pre-Production:
In conjunction with VFX Supervisor and Producer, sets up show including pipeline and methodology decisions, in concert with the DPS.
Works with Producer to assign crew to show and cast crew.
Maintains constant communication with VFX Supervisor on location to understand progress on set and changes that will affect body of work.
May start early shot production, overseeing asset build, look development and/or effects development while principal photography is in progress.
Leads crew when VFX Supervisors is on location.
Serves as key creative in bid meetings.
Develops methodology and approach to show, including how to get work completed efficiently and within show budget; making determinations about where to distribute the work (LDAC/Sing/3PP, etc)
May cover 2nd unit or relieve VFX Supervisor on location

Production:

Depending on expertise, may drive the look of assets and/or effects.
With input from the FX Supervisor, supervises assigned body of work, provides feedback to artists
In conjunction with VFX Supervisor and Producer, develops and executes production plan
On occasion and with approval from the VFX Supervisor, may present VFX work to clients, with guidance from the VFX Supervisor.
On occasion, may be required to perform hands-on shot work on show
