The Business Director will lead the Social and Campaign team in the Munich office, overseeing large creative and strategic projects. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in account management, ideally with experience in integrated or social agencies, particularly in the automotive sector, and a proven ability to manage budgets exceeding €2 million. A strong understanding of social media trends and best practices is essential, along with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. The role involves close collaboration with other Business Directors and reporting to the Client Service Director.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re on the hunt for a Business Director to be the Social and Campaign lead in our Munich Office. Working closely with the always-on social team, you’ll be the senior day-to-day lead on a key part of the business. You’ll also be responsible for overseeing larger creative and strategic projects and hunting for incremental opportunities. You’ll work closely with the Business Director leading our Editorial team, to keep the overall Munich team motivated, inspired and happy! 

Commercially driven, strategic, and growth oriented with excellent Client Service skills, this role will oversee a team of suits and report to the Client Service Director.
WHAT YOU DO
  • You are an expert in social and campaign, responsible for driving best-practice and understanding of integrated creative and the role of social within our business and the 360 channel mix.
  • You build strong, long-term client relationships with senior clients, acting as a strategic partner and trusted consultant.
  • You lead the team to deliver best practice account and project management, and are a stickler for process (but you also know when and how to bend the rules!)
  • You manage, mentor and develop junior account people, leading from the front with a can-do attitude, drive and ambition. You’re not afraid to roll your sleeves up.. but you also love to empower your team with autonomy and support.
  • You take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of all projects within your team.
  • You have a firm grasp of profitability, and financial rigour and support the CSD with assessments of burn rates, and overall financial reporting of your P&L each fortnight.
  • You oversee the team in scoping smaller projects and remits, but personally responsible for the large annual retainer scoping and delivery. 
  • You perform a pivotal role in connecting dots across the business, ensuring that campaign, editorial and experiential projects are supported effectively on social, and that we approach everything with a ‘social first’ mindset.
  • You are passionate about growth, and an expert at identifying new opportunities… and converting them. From organic growth to new service offerings.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Minimum 10 years in account management, ideally 1-2 in a similar role, ideally in integrated or social agencies. Experience working on automotive is a plus.
  • You have recent experience managing business worth +2m EUR.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • A complete natural in presenting – to both clients and internal stakeholders .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • You’re a born negotiator, great at selling work, scopes and ideas in a way that mutually beneficial for the client and agency.
  • You’re an absolute expert when it comes to social, you know the channels inside out, and what ‘great’ looks like.
  • You have a genuine passion for social, and actively stay abreast of trends and social platform changes, and inspire, inform and guide the team accordingly.
  • You are an inspiring leader who fosters a collaborative and results-driven culture, leading a high-performing team to achieve common goals.
  • You have strong financial acumen and experience in managing large agency and external budgets.
  • You are process oriented with exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail. 
  • You’re happy to travel to meetings when required (mostly in London – likely once a month).
  • You have experience working in a multicultural team, with team members and colleagues in other markets.
  • You have excellent written and spoken English and German.
  • And last but not least… You have an active interest in the automotive sector, have an active driving license and are confident in driving new and unfamiliar cars.
