About the job:
As a Calendar Client Engineer, Java Full Stack, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Google Calendar client application. This includes developing new features, fixing bugs, and improving the overall user experience. You will be working on a variety of projects, using a variety of technologies, including Java, Kotlin, and other client languages. You will also be working with a team of talented engineers to develop and ship new products and features.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • 2 years of experience with full stack development
  • Experience with Client Side Development
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Ability to independently plan and execute work
  • Comfortable working across multiple client codebases in different languages
  • Familiarity with Kotlin or other client languages (e.g., TypeScript, Swift, Objective-C)
  • Experience with client platforms out of Web, Android, or iOS development

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end with Java.
  • Experience with Client Side Development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute work. Comfortable working across multiple client codebases in different languages.
  • Familiarity with Kotlin or other client languages (e.g., TypeScript, Swift, Objective-C).

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.

  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
