Category Leader – Packaging & Material Handling
As Category Leader for Packaging & Material Handling, you will be a vital part of the Indirect Strategic Sourcing team, working in close collaboration with cross-functional partners and key stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing strategies that drive optimal value for Aptiv. Your focus will be on managing Packaging Materials and Material Handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, racking systems) across the region, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational excellence.
Recognized for its strong track record in delivering savings and innovation, the Indirect Strategic Sourcing team at Aptiv offers the autonomy and support to lead transformation and strategic initiatives. In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing supply chain efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Your Role
Implement robust category strategies for Packaging and Material Handling that support Aptiv’s regional and global sourcing objectives.
Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams (e.g. PC&L, Engineering, Quality, Legal) to deliver sourcing solutions that drive performance, innovation, and sustainability.
Monitor market trends and supplier landscapes to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Lead strategic sourcing projects, including supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and contract management (above $250k APV).
Continuously improve sourcing processes and tools to enhance value delivery and compliance.
Support Aptiv’s packaging sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction and circular economy strategies.
Your Background
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent (Master’s preferred) with 3-5 years of sourcing experience in similar role (preferred in the manufacturing or automotive sector).
Proven experience in Packaging and/or Material Handling categories is preferred.
Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Ability to perform effectively in dynamic, fast-changing environments requiring adaptability and resilience.
Capability to operate independently while exercising a high level of responsibility and sound decision-making.
Excellent communication and project management abilities.
