Job Description

As a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Data Analytics, you will provide support to customers transitioning to Google Cloud. You'll troubleshoot technical problems involving debugging, networking, system administration, documentation updates, and coding/scripting as needed. You'll advocate for customer needs and contribute to Google Cloud's success by understanding and resolving issues. This role requires working in a shift pattern, potentially including weekends, to ensure 24/7 customer support. You'll develop in-depth knowledge of Google Cloud's data analytics products, investigate customer-reported issues, and create tools/documents for faster diagnosis. You'll work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including engineering, sales, and customer organizations, to resolve technical deployment challenges and improve Google Cloud's overall performance.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience
2 years of experience reading or debugging code in a general purpose coding language
2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs
Experience with SQL database administration
Understanding of web technologies and TCP/IP concepts
Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills

Good to have:

Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications
Experience with open source software communities
Experience with Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing
Experience with open source distributed storage and processing utilities in the Apache Hadoop family or workflow orchestration products
Experience working in a dynamic organization with extensive cross-collaboration across functions
Unix/Linux basic administration and commands

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience reading or debugging code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript).
2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications.
Experience with SQL database administration, open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing.
Experience with open source distributed storage and processing utilities in the Apache Hadoop family or workflow orchestration products.
Experience working in a dynamic organization with extensive cross-collaboration across functions.
Understanding of web technologies and TCP/IP concepts, Unix/Linux basic administration and commands.
Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills in a fluid environment.

In this role, you will provide support to the customers making the switch to Google Cloud. When customers cannot resolve issues themselves, you will ensure that we have the necessary tools and processes to swiftly resolve the issue. You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You will help Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for our customers issues. You will be required to work in a shift pattern or non-standard work hours as needed. Responsibilities

Develop an in-depth understanding of Google Cloud's Data analytics products (like BigQuery, Dataproc, etc.) and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, along with building tools and documents for faster diagnosis.
Act as consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24-hour customer support. This will include a need to work non-standard work hours/shifts, including weekend work.
Understand customer issues, advocate for their needs with internal teams, including product and engineering teams and drive high-quality production.
