Mercure Kuala Lumpur Trion, the tallest Mercure hotel in Southeast Asia, is seeking a Commis I to join its dynamic culinary team. The role involves assisting the Chef de Partie in daily mise-en-place, food preparation, and service to create exceptional dining experiences. Responsibilities include following recipes, maintaining kitchen hygiene, collaborating with staff, managing inventory, and contributing to a positive kitchen environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 1 year of professional kitchen experience, proficiency in English, and knowledge of food safety standards. The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to learn are essential.
Must have:

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Commis I in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! We're seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to support our kitchen operations and contribute to creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in daily mise-en-place, food preparation, and service activities
  • Follow recipes and portion specifications to ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service periods
  • Complete daily checklists for mise-en-place and food storage
  • Assist in inventory management by participating in stock rotation and requisition processes
  • Attend daily meetings with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff as required
  • Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with HACCP regulations
  • Contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen environment through teamwork and communication

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well in a team
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
