Job Description & Summary

A career within Deals Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Services will provide you with the opportunity to support our clients navigate a range of complex financial or operational issues facing their business. This could cause cash shortages, liquidity issues, balance sheet stress, increased cost base, shareholder disputes or a formal insolvency proceeding. Whatever the solution, we help them manage these challenges to a resolution.

Purpose-led work you’ll be part of  

As a Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Manager, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers, working on complex issues and executing strategies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Managing sections of project work with a team of junior staff 

  • Problem solving day to day challenges with clients  

  • Completing financial or operational analysis and summarizing work 

  • Reviewing or building company forecasts including short term cashflows and longer-term three-way models 

  • Working on independent business reviews for lenders  

  • Preparing memos or documents for clients or other stakeholders (such as banks, regulators or creditors) 

  • Managing communications with stakeholders of an entity  

  • Visiting client sites for review purposes or to support operations during an insolvency process 

  • Supporting negotiations for refinancings or sales of businesses 

  • Managing insolvency tasks such as creditor or inspector meetings, reporting requirements or court reports 

  • Being part of strategic discussions with clients and stakeholders 

  • Reviewing and coaching associates and senior associates 

  • Being part of the BC insolvency and restructuring network, attending events and networking with lenders and lawyers in the space 

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve  

  • Ideally the candidate has a professional designation in accounting such as the CPA. The candidate is also already enrolled in the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) program 

  • Strong accounting and financial analysis and modeling skills 

  •  Strong initiative and a willingness to constantly expand knowledge and business acumen 

  • Adaptable to the uncertain, time restrictive and changing nature of the job; and to work independently or as part of a team on multiple projects at the same time 

  • Ability to handle a range of personalities and to be able to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong customer relationship and business development skills  

  • Curiosity to learn about the impacts on a business including the macro-economic factors 

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives 

  • Occasional travel required

 

This role doesn’t support completion of the Canadian CPA designation 

 

The salary range* for this position is $82,300.00 - $137,000.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
