Limbic Entertainment seeks a passionate Creative Director to lead the design and development of current and upcoming game IPs. Responsibilities include defining and executing the creative vision, collaborating with management and other directors to balance quality and cost, leading and mentoring the design team, collaborating with technical teams, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in game design, a proven track record of leading design teams, experience in simulation, RPG, or similar genres, and a strong portfolio. The role involves the full development cycle, shipping at least 2 games.

Limbic Entertainment is seeking a passionate and visionary Creative Director to oversee the production and development of our current and upcoming game IPs. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with management to define and maintain the design vision, ensuring that all features align with the game's overall creative direction and resonate with our audience. You will spearhead the design team, emphasizing collaboration and driving innovation.

Limbic Entertainment GmbH, founded in 2002, is a leading German development studio dedicated to creating high-quality video games on multiple platforms for global audiences. Limbic Entertainment focuses on strategy, roleplaying and simulation management games for PC and consoles, utilizing the latest technology such as Unreal® 5. With a diverse team of over 110 developers from more than 20 nationalities, Limbic Entertainment GmbH has launched over 80 product versions globally, including key titles like Park Beyond (2023), Tropico 6 (2019), and Might & Magic X: Legacy (2013).  Since October 2022, Bandai Namco Europe S.A.S. holds a majority share in Limbic Entertainment GmbH. What will a day in your life in this role look like? We are glad you asked!
 
  • Design Vision and Execution: Define and execute the Creative Vision and style of one of our games, ensuring a cohesive and immersive player experience throughout the whole game development, from concept to completion.
  • Collaboration with Management: Work closely with management and other directors to ensure that the design elements complement and enhance the game’s narrative and gameplay, while finding the perfect balance between the quality and the costs.
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and inspire the game development team. Mentor the broader team, fostering an environment that values creativity, professional growth, and diversity.
  • Balance Aesthetics and Technical Constraints: Collaborate with technical teams to balance aesthetic design goals with technical constraints, ensuring seamless integration of design and technology.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with the development team and stakeholders, ensuring alignment of design and project goals.
We would love it if you have these skills:
  • Open-minded and receptive to different cultures and ideas, with an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
  • Experience in working with and leading diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to integrate diverse perspectives into the creative process.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine is a plus.
  • A degree in an art-related domain or equivalent design experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in game design or related fields, with a proven track record of leading design teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating designs for simulation, RPGs, or similar genres.
  • Participation in the full development cycle and have shipped at least 2 games.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating design talent. 
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
