Job Description

This Developer Relations Engineer, Android role involves working with developers and internal stakeholders to improve Android app development productivity. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities to enhance tooling, libraries, and guidance; understanding community usage of Jetpack libraries and addressing bottlenecks; collaborating with product and engineering teams to provide API/library feedback and influence the product roadmap; and creating scalable developer resources such as blog posts, sample code, and codelabs. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of Android app development experience, including experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. The role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with developers, generate insights, and influence engineering plans. This position is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Must have:

3+ years Android app development experience
1+ year Kotlin experience
Collaborate with stakeholders
Create developer resources (blog posts, codelabs)
Identify and resolve developer bottlenecks

Good to have:

4+ years Android app experience
Experience rolling out new technologies
Open-source project contribution
Jetpack Compose debugging experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience in Android app development.
1 year of experience in Kotlin programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

4 years of experience in building Android apps.
Experience rolling out a new technology at their company to improve developer productivity.
Experience contributing to an open source project.
Experience debugging performance issues in Jetpack Compose.

Responsibilities

Work with developers and internal stakeholders at Google to identify opportunities and land changes in tooling, libraries, and guidance that will boost productivity when building, debugging, testing, and releasing Android apps.
Understand how the community is using Compose and other Jetpack libraries and what bottlenecks are slowing down developers’ work, elevating these issues to appropriate stakeholders and driving resolution on them.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries, influence the product roadmap, and craft the most relevant narrative for how developers can maximize their return on investment when building for Android.
Create scalable developer resources including blog posts, sample code, codelabs, and opinionated guidance on how developers can more effectively leverage Jetpack libraries to build quality apps with less time and resources.
