The Opportunity

Lose It! is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale services that power our top-rated mobile apps. This role will report to the Senior Director of Infrastructure Engineering, and work directly with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver efficient, durable, and well-architected experiences to our members. Key Responsibilities

  • Improve the performance of the backend services that power our mobile application and make them more maintainable and scalable
  • Support front-end engineers in adding new features to mobile products
  • Respond to outages and determine root causes in order to prevent future ones
  • Resolve issues with support of teammates as part of an on-call rotation for production systems
  • Ensure work is scoped properly and is being executed the best way possible

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Comfortable coding and debugging in most of the stack - Java/Kotlin (or similar language), SQL, Redis, web servers, message queues
  • Experience with running workloads in a cloud provider - for instance Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc
  • Executes tactical efforts autonomously
  • High productivity; writes a lot of code
  • Very responsive; quickly adapts to code feedback
  • Supports teammates; makes the developers around them better
  • Highly influential within the Infrastructure team and across the company
  • A positive attitude and the ability to resolve issues with best practices, processes, and strategies
