The Director, Global Medical Scientists leads the team in shaping the company's clinical evidence generation strategy, acting as the medical and scientific leader for developing and planning clinical study programs. This role involves providing guidance to the team managing the non-registrational study portfolio and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure impactful clinical evidence generation. This position is crucial in maintaining scientific excellence and patient-centric approaches. Responsibilities include guiding and empowering a team of Medical Scientists, spearheading the development of an evidence generation strategy, cultivating a global network of Key Opinion Leaders, and delivering expert guidance to cross-functional teams. Additionally, the Director collaborates with global and regional medical teams for alignment.
Must have:
  • Doctorate (MD, PharmD, or PhD) required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in medical affairs or related functions.
  • 3+ years of direct people leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and manage multiple research activities.
  • Proven track record of advancing scientific knowledge through peer review publications.

Job Details

The Director, Global Medical Scientists leads the team responsible for shaping the company's clinical evidence generation strategy. In this role, you will act as the medical and scientific leader for developing and planning clinical study programs.

You will provide guidance to the team managing the non-registrational study portfolio, ensuring alignment with medical and scientific standards. The Global Medical Scientists Head collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including research, regulatory, and marketing, to ensure the generation of impactful clinical evidence that supports the company's strategy. This role is crucial in maintaining our commitment to scientific excellence and patient-centric approaches within the competitive global healthcare landscape.

 

Primary Duties

  1. Guides and empowers a team of Medical Scientists, fostering innovation and excellence.
  2. Spearheads the development and execution of an evidence generation strategy that aligns with company objectives and strengthens the portfolio.
  3. Cultivates and sustains a global network of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Investigators to ensure comprehensive insights into clinical research.
  4. Delivers expert guidance on evidence generation to cross-functional teams, including biostatistics/data management, R&D, regulatory affairs, and marketing, driving informed decision-making.
  5. Collaborates seamlessly with global and regional medical teams to maintain alignment and ensure consistency in strategic execution.

 

Minimum Experience

  1. A Doctorate (MD, PharmD, or PhD) is required
  2. 5+ years of relevant experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or a related function
  3. 3+ years of direct people leadership

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Demonstrated ability to drive and manage multiple research activities.
  2. Proven track record of advancing scientific knowledge through peer review publications with strong preference for multiple publications with lead authorship
  3. Significant recognized external expertise as reflected by conference presentations and/or lead authorship in position publications
  4. Ability to establish, manage, and promote engagement and relationships with KOLs and thought leadership
  5. Experience in Clinical research, including KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagement.
  6. Proven experience in generating clinical study protocols and publications in peer reviewed journals.
