The successful candidate will need to evaluate completed designs and provide recommendations.

Activate is a tech company known for creating Canada’s first full-scale interactive gaming facility. We are looking for an experienced and innovative Engineering Leader to guide and manage our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they align with company goals. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset.


The Duties and Responsibilities:


Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations, providing regular feedback and evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth

Project Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within  budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Allocate resources effectively, managing priorities and addressing any project risks promptly
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, IT and manufacturing, to achieve project goals
  • Communicate engineering changes to impacted departments

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance engineering capabilities and drive innovation
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes, providing technical insights and recommendations

Engineering Design

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of new products.
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate activities of special projects to ensure that goals are accomplished within scheduled and budget
  • Recommend enhancements to existing product designs.
  • Review detailed specifications that align with certification standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate completed designs to ensure they meet all technical and quality criteria, recommending acceptance or rejection as necessary.

Quality and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of engineering
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement

The Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred with an understanding of electrical design and computer engineering principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering engineering projects
  • Strong technical acumen and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and quality control processes
