Job Description

Voodoo seeks a Freelance Senior Back-end Engineer to join the Wizz team, a social app for teens with over 3 million monthly active users in the US and UK. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining highly scalable and available backends. You'll contribute to product shaping, best practices in reliability and availability, and the overall back-end infrastructure. The ideal candidate will collaborate within a high-performing team of 15, fostering creativity and a positive work environment. The tech stack involves Node.js, Fastify, Socket.io, Firebase, MongoDB, Redis, and various cloud services (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, etc.).

Must have:

Design, implement, deploy and maintain scalable backends
Contribute to product shaping and best practices
Experience with Node.js, MongoDB, and cloud infrastructure
Collaboration within a high-performing team

Good to have:

Experience with Firebase, Redis, and microservice architecture
Familiarity with AWS and Google Cloud Platform

Role

Design, implement, deploy and maintain highly-scalable and available backends for a social app used by millions of users
Contribute to shaping product
Contribute to best practices on reliability and availability
Contribute to the back-end overall infrastructure

Our stack

Language and libraries: Node.js, Fastify, Socket.io, Firebase
Databases: MongoDB, Redis
Infrastructure: Cloud Run, Cloud functions, Bucket, S3, CloudFront
Ops: Github Action, AWS CLI, Gcloud CLI, Docker, microservice architecture
