Job Description

The Lead Business Analyst will be a key member of the Financial Crime and Reputational Risk business unit. The role involves translating product owner requirements into detailed user stories for development teams, acting as a liaison between product owners and development teams, and ensuring a quality backlog. Responsibilities include eliciting and analyzing business requirements, documenting user stories with supporting diagrams, and ensuring the quality of the work. The analyst will also be responsible for becoming a subject matter expert in AML and KYC and suggesting improvements to the work processes. The role involves working in an Agile/Scrum environment and requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction and delivering quality deliverables within deadlines. This role requires the candidate to work with Product Owners, UX professionals, and Development teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for change control, requirements documentation, and agile processes.

THE TEAM


You will be working with internal product owners and a dynamic team of technologists using bleeding edge software development practices with the backing of a large multinational organisation. We have multiple scrum teams consisting of scrum masters, business analysts, user experience professionals, server and user interface developers, and quality assurance engineers. We strongly follow agile principles of continuous improvement:

  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation
  • Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
  • Responding to change over following a plan



THE TECHNOLOGY


We are working on a wide variety of ground breaking applications using Java (Spring/Hibernate), Node.js, RabbitMQ, SOLR, ElasticSearch and socket.io with a JavaScript single page User Interface (dojo, LESS, node.js and promised-based architectures). To support our development we already use multiple standard industry tools like GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Cucumber, Vagrant, and are always interested in other tools that we feel will help us engineer better products that we can be proud of.


Position Overview


Are you an outstanding Business Analyst with strong communication skills and plenty of experience of working with Agile development teams? We are looking for a BA to join us in the Financial Crime and Reputational Risk business unit. We’re currently working on an existing SaaS product and need someone like you to join us to take scope from Product Owners and translate into clearly articulated user stories for our development teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES


LIAISON & COMMUNICATION

  • Be the main point of contact with Product Owners in order to elicit, analyse, and validate complex business requirements for the software we’re building. 
  • Control change from Product Owners that could affect the business case.
  • Document and translate the business requirements into detailed user stories for our UX and development teams with supporting diagrams, Acceptance Criteria and Rationales.

AGILE & SCRUM

  • Act as a proxy for the Product Owners as the key point of contact with the development teams to answer their questions about the requirements.
  • Be accountable for maintaining a quality backlog of user stories, through activities such as backlog grooming.
  • Provide input to the prioritisation of the backlog to make sure the development teams are working on the right things in the right order.

BUSINESS ACUMEN

  • Be accountable for the quality of your work, ensuring it’s delivered within agreed procedures and timeframes.
  • Become a subject matter expert in AML and KYC (assuming you’re not already!).
  • Look at how we’re working and suggest how we can do it even better!

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in Scrum / Agile methodology, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria utilising Behavioural Driven Development (BDD)
  • Business analysis experience within a global organization.
  • Ability to capture business requirements and represent them effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, analysis, research and process mapping skills.
  • Excellent writing skills - both technical and non-technical.
  • Customer focused and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the customer.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability handle multiple complex tasks.
  • Understands the principles of usability and helps ensure the software is fit for purpose.
  • Understands requirements management best practice and ensures these practices are used.
  • Understands the effects of technology used within development, and the impact on the business client.
  • Able to produce quality deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • An understanding of the KYC / AML environment would be highly beneficial

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Nurtures relationships with the business to understand and respond to existing and emerging customer requirements.
  • Assists with communications to customers regarding new and improved technology solutions.
  • Oversees relationship with customers to understand their long-term technology requirements and business plans and proposing technology solutions based on LSEG’s offerings.
  • Oversees the training programme delivered to clients and provides ongoing expert technical advice to clients.
  • Manages a team of Analysts, Senior Analysts and / or Team Leads by providing advice, coaching and development opportunities.
  • Oversees interaction between Business Analysts, the development group and internal customers for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Manages project risks and issues, drives mitigation actions and ensure high priority items are escalated to/within project steering committee for decision making.
  • Coordinates communications to internal customers regarding new and improved technology solutions, to ensure delivering against their long-term technology requirements and business plans.

    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree required 
  • Knowledge of Business Analysis Book of Knowledge or CBAP an advantage
  • Computer literate – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Internet proficient
