Job Description

The HVAC Systems Performance Engineer will coordinate vehicle testing, analyze and report vehicle data, and benchmark competitors. They will prepare vehicles for testing, including updates and instrumentation, and submit test requests to the EPA. This role involves leading aero/thermal development, optimizing fuel economy, range, and vehicle performance, and proactive planning for vehicle validation. Responsibilities also include supporting vehicle instrumentation, conducting tests, resolving issues, and recommending solutions. They must manage multiple projects, lead suppliers, and travel to supplier locations and assembly plants. This role requires strong hands-on skills and problem-solving abilities. The engineer will also require excellent english speaking, reading and writing skills and a valid driver's license.

Must have:

Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace) from an ABET accredited University.
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong hands-on background with passion for vehicle level testing.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Ability to lead and manage Suppliers.
High level of proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Good to have:

Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS desirable.
Basic knowledge of TeamCenter, NX and VisProfessional viewer

Responsibility:

Responsible for coordinating vehicle testing, analysis and reporting of vehicle data, competitive benchmarking reporting, Electrical Demand Energy (EDE).
Prepare vehicles for testing, including vehicle updates, instrumentation and submitting test requests for EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and environmental test cells.
Responsible for leading aero/thermal development and optimization for fuel economy, range and performance for a vehicle and will be involved with proactive planning and tracking of vehicle validation for program milestones.
Support / lead vehicle instrumentation builds, checkout of vehicle, Test Planning and conduct clear productive tests (drive cell and road trips) and proactively lead issues resolution, identify solutions, and recommend actions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace) from an ABET accredited University.
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Must have a strong hands-on background, with a passion for vehicle level testing and be able to interface with many groups within the company.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Must be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Must be able to lead and manage Suppliers.
Some travel required to Supplier and Corporate Engine/Transmission / Vehicle Assembly Plants -- including Canada & Mexico, off site testing facilities as well as domestically to support press events.
Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS desirable.
Basic knowledge of TeamCenter, NX and VisProfessional viewer
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record - will be required to drive company vehicles.
This position requires some travel to Chelsea Proving Grounds
High level of proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
