Job Description

The Machine Setup Technician I will be responsible for setting up and preparing milling machinery for production. This includes reading blueprints and customer drawings, loading and unloading fixtures, and ensuring high accuracy and productivity. The role also involves performing daily preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring junior employees. The technician must have strong mechanical, technical, and analytical skills, and possess a minimum of two years of experience with machinery in a production or machine shop environment.

Position Summary:

Setup and prepare milling machinery for production.  Maintain and perform daily preventative maintenance and supply all milling machine related needs. Troubleshoot and solve minor to semi-complex problems and issues.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Setup and prepare machinery for production.
  • Full knowledge of how to read blueprints, customer drawings and all technical information.
  • Load/unload fixtures and specific programs for machine set up.
  •  Maintains better than average productivity.
  • Maintains high accuracy on all functions.
  • Mentors’ other employees.
  • Works on moderate scope of machinery set-up complexity.
  • Has the ability to identify potential issues and resolve efficiently.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor only when out of their knowledge base to resolve.
  • Provides guidance or direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support.
  • Contributes to employee’s development.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, customer drawings, and all technical information.
  • Strong mechanical, technical and analytical skills.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 

2+ years of experience with machinery in a production or machine shop environment required 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Manufacturing Environment

Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer
