Job Description

As an Enclosure Mechanical Design Engineer at Fluence, you will be responsible for designing and developing energy storage products with a focus on mechanical aspects. You will create 3D CAD models using PTC Creo, generate engineering drawings, and manage changes within PLM software. Key responsibilities include designing sheet metal components, ensuring adherence to design standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role involves supporting product development from concept to manufacturing, providing design improvement feedback, and presenting design solutions to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background and proficiency in CAD and PLM tools. They should also have experience with enclosure and cooling system design. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to solve problems.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of experience in CAD Engineering.
  • Expertise in CAD software like AutoCAD.
  • Ability to create and analyze 3D models.
  • Proficient in producing technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with Windchill/SAP PLM, BOM and product design control.
  • Strong proficiency with ISO, ASME Y14.5-2018 drafting standards and GD&T skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in Enclosure, battery energy storage system (BESS).
  • Knowledge in model-based design (MBD), AI generative design tools like Creo GTO and GDX or equivalent tools like Ansys Discovery Modeling.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and analytical minded individual to join our team as a Enclosure Mechanical Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for design & development of Fluence’s energy storage products, focusing on the mechanical perspective. An ideal candidate will have a broad mechanical engineering background as well as strong proficiency in CAD & PLM tools and have ability to tackle difficult engineering problems. Experience in Enclosure / cabinet structures, cooling systems, both air cooling and liquid cooling, is also beneficial. The candidate needs to have a strong engineering skill listed below.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop parametric 3D CAD models in PTC Creo for new enclosure designs, generate engineering drawings, bill of materials, technical specifications, related data in conjunction with Fluence battery enclosure design.
•Highly experienced with solid model design software preferably CREO 8.0 or above and manage changes on large assembly CAD data within PLM software. 
•Strong experience in mechanical system design – sheet metal components, weldment design, plastic mould component and standard elements/parts.
•Able to apply DFMA concept to identify and create Parts for fabrication / Manufacturing.
•Proficient in creating / Quality Reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings for components and assemblies by utilizing excellent GD&T skills and tolerance stack-up analysis.
•Experience in product development from the concept stage through prototyping, final design, and manufacturing
•Support and provide engineering improvement feedback on design, material selection, cost out design, failure implications and problem resolutions.
•Ensure product design standards are adhered to common international standards, such as ANSI/ISO/ASME.
•Collaborate with cross functional teams including Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Logistics, Procurement and Manufacturing Engineering on ensuring successful deployments of Fluence products in large-scale energy storage projects.
•Present design solutions to key stakeholders, defending design decisions, incorporating design feedback into the design cycle.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence? 
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in technical discipline with at least 3 years of experience in CAD Engineering. 
•Expertise in industry-standard CAD software AutoCAD, .
•Strong ability to create, modify, and analyze 3D models and assemblies ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
•Proficient in producing detailed and accurate technical drawings and blueprints.
•Highly skilled and detail-oriented product designer involved in the end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to production.
•Experience in Windchill/SAP PLM, BOM and product design control is required.
•Experience in Enclosure, battery energy storage system (BESS) is an added advantage.
•Strong proficiency with ISO, ASME Y14.5-2018 drafting standards and GD&T skills.
