The Program Manager III, Retail Design and Development, will lead complex projects from initiation to completion within Google's Hardware Design Studio. Responsibilities include managing project schedules and communications, tracking budgets and vendor agreements, supporting prototyping and addressing construction/manufacturing issues, maintaining relationships with internal teams, and managing procurement. The role requires experience in program/project management, design/construction project management, and managing cross-functional projects within the retail industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of store design, construction, fixtures, and consumer experiences. The team's mission is to create inspiring and sustainable retail spaces for Google.
Must have:
  • 5+ years program/project management experience
  • 5+ years design/construction project management experience
  • Manage project schedules and communications
  • Track budgets, vendor agreements, and change orders
  • Support prototyping and address construction issues
Good to have:
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects
  • Retail industry experience (store design, construction, fixtures)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 5 years of experience in design/construction project management.


Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in the Retail industry, retail environments, and programs (e.g., store design, construction/installations, fixtures and fittings, consumer services/experiences).

The Retail Design and Development team sits within the Google Hardware Design Studio as the group that oversees the design, build, and deployment of physical retail spaces. The mission is to create inspiring and sustainable spaces and experiences for users. The Google Hardware Design Studio is the broader design team that oversees the design of Google's hardware products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage and drive project schedules and communications, meet cadence and execution of deliverables. 
  • Track and report to program managers and leads on budgets, vendor/partner agreements, change orders, and more.
  • Support sampling and prototyping, identify and address key issues and issues in construction/manufacturing, and testing of designs.
  • Maintain relationships with internal business units and cross-functional partners to ensure that new standards and processes are incorporated into the execution of projects.
  • Manage the procurement administration process of owner furnished items and participate in vendor on-boarding.
