Job Description

The Subject Matter Expert in Data will provide support in their area of expertise including operational workflow, content management, data flow, and client success. They will respond to inquiries, conduct quality assessments, validate data accuracy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. They will lead discussions for new assignments and initiatives. They need to have strong knowledge of securities reference data and pricing data, experience with data vendors, and project management experience.
Must have:
  • Strong knowledge of securities reference data and pricing data.
  • Experience with data vendors such as LSEG, ICE, and Bloomberg.
  • Project management experience in data improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of technical ecosystem and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Good to have:
  • Prior experience/familiarity in SQL preferred.

Job Summary:

The Subject Matter Expert in Data is a recognized thought leader and authority in their specific areas of expertise. These individuals are content experts within the organization and actively contribute to enhancing their area of knowledge. They effectively represent Clearwater, demonstrating a deep understanding of the company's value proposition when communicating with both internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Providing support in the area of expertise, encompassing operational workflow, content management, data flow, business development, product enhancement, and ensuring client success. 
  • Delivering quick, thorough, and accurate responses to both internal and external inquiries. 
  • Planning, designing, developing, and conducting quality assessments on content to maintain high standards. 
  • Leveraging a combination of manual and automated processes and procedures to validate the accuracy of specialized content. 
  • Evaluating the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data from both new and existing data vendors. 
  • Participating in BAU query workflow and control review/remediation, with a growing emphasis on shifting toward more critical projects, strategic initiatives, and client interactions. 
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to enhance communication and address any gaps, thereby ensuring efficient process workflows. 
  • Recognizing the distinction between value and functionality and consistently conveying value messages in both internal and external interactions. 
  • aking the lead in driving discussions for newly introduced assignments and initiatives. 

 

Required Skills: 

  • Strong knowledge of securities reference data (essential) and pricing data (advantageous) including complex assets such as derivatives
  • Experience of working with data vendors such as LSEG, ICE and Bloomberg
  • Project management experience in data improvement initiatives such as introducing new data sources or strategic process overhaul
  • Understanding of technical ecosystem and able to solve client pain through Clearwater best practices. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.   
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.   
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in Business-related field.  
  • 4+ years relevant experience. 
  • Experience simplifying complex concepts relating to securities data & presenting to senior internal stakeholders and/or external clients  
  • Prior experience/familiarity in SQL preferred. An understanding of database concepts and information models is critical. 

 

Derivatives or Bank Loans (or niche structured products)

UK based but support global org with various initiatives (e.g. changing workflow of data and dynami of process, be more proactive, working with product and dev teams to get tooling to support this, security Recon and SDP. ]

Someone who has experience modelling security data, working with vendors. ideally some client facing (not essential).

FNZ, BLK, JPM, Morgan Stanley, BG. Fund services/admin, NAV production.

Understanding the reference data and the makeup. Look at a sercurity type and know the features, know where things can go wrong. This is whats provided from xyz.

Ranking of technical skills:

Excel - Yes

SQL - basic Yes

Python - not essential.
