Job Description

The Product Manager will be responsible for market and business success within the camera group. Responsibilities include identifying market needs, understanding the competitive landscape, developing product roadmaps, and managing the product life cycle from concept to end-of-life. This includes establishing pricing strategies, maintaining product listings, and managing strategic partnerships. The role also involves supporting sales efforts by ensuring sufficient sales tools and technical collateral. The position requires strong initiative, technical and business acumen, and the ability to work in an interactive environment. Additionally, it involves representing product management in sales forecasting and contributing to product strategy and vision.

Department Overview

Reporting to the Director of Product management, the Product Manager is
responsible for the market and business success within the camera group
(https://www.avigilon.com/products/cameras-sensors/). This position typically involves driving all efforts within the organization necessary to achieve the business and goals for select products.  This role works closely with other product managers in the organization to ensure that products are complimentary and combine to deliver a compelling and cohesive Avigilon end to end solution.

Responsibilities:​
Market:

  • Identification, qualification, and quantification of current and future market needs with insight gathered from outside of the organization.

  • Being the voice of the market and customer within the organization.

  • Ensuring internal stakeholders clearly understand product requirements via clear and comprehensive Market Requirements Documents.

  • Deeply understanding the competitive environment and our product competitive position.

  • Perform regular in-depth competitive analysis covering technical and non-technical aspects of competitive positions in battle cards Product road map.

  • Establishing clear product vision – the who, what, why, where, and when (but not the how) and champion that within the organization and ensure all project decisions are consistent with that vision.

  • Contribution and maintenance of the product roadmap.

  • Development and maintenance of the business case for each project including revenue projections and project ROI.


Product life cycle:

  • Accountable for product success in the market (revenue, margin, and market share) and achievement of business goals set out at product approval phase.

  • Managing a product through the entire product life cycle from initial concept to product end-of-life.

  • Continually monitor product performance and take action accordingly.

  • Overseeing product launch and ensuring the launch is impactful and effective.

  • Establishing product pricing strategy and product pricing.

  • Maintain product pricelist.

  • Identify and maintain strategic partnerships.

  • Represent product management activity to  sales forecasting effort.


Sales support:

  • In collaboration with Product Marketing ensure sales tools and technical collateral are sufficient to enable the channel to successfully position the product.


Basic Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering related fields preferred.

  • 2+ Years of work experience in Product Management.

  • Exceptional critical thinker, decisive, ability to anticipate market trends, evaluate tradeoffs and risk in a manner that results in a well thought out strategy.

  • Technically competent in the relevant product domain.

  • Strong analytical skills are required.

  • Strong oral communication skills. Able to effectively present ideas, roadmap elements, status updates and/or proposals to upper levels of management, including non-technical staff.

  • Exceptional written communication skills in support of vision, market, business and functional requirements.

  • Exceptional relationship skills that support strong sustained interaction with customers, prospects, industry leaders, and the development organization.

  • Physical Security Market experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering related fields preferred.
