Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Project Starline is developing advanced software and hardware technology to enable people who are separated by distance to experience a conversation as if they were together. You will have the opportunity to have a big impact working alongside researchers and engineers inventing the future of communication with Google products. As a Software Engineer, Color and Photographic Pipeline, you will design, develop, and advance software and software systems for Starline's color imaging pipeline. You will collaborate with imaging and machine learning engineers to deploy state-of-the-art algorithms and methods, and deliver the best possible Project Starline visual user experience. You will also work across the organization to advance tools and development practices.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. C++)
  • 5 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • 2 years of experience with cameras, image processing or Android development
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Experience writing full applications, either independently or leading a team
  • Experience with Android OS or Linux architecture, drivers, systems programming
  • Experience with one or more of the following: CNNs for imaging, GPU or SIMD programming, processing real world data, statistics
  • Experience with cameras or displays, hardware, physical devices and sensors, color image processing, color spaces or automatic white balance algorithms

Project Starline from Google combines advances in hardware and software to enable friends, families and co-workers to feel together, even when they’re cities (or countries) apart. Imagine looking through a magic window, and through that window, you see another person, life-size and in three-dimensions. As part of the Project Starline team, you'll work with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Our teams collaborate closely with Google Workspace and Research teams. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
