Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III specializing in Security/Privacy for their Google Cloud platform. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, debugging system issues, and enhancing software solutions. The ideal candidate possesses at least 2 years of software development experience, experience with data structures and algorithms, and ideally experience in data privacy or security. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to manage project priorities and deadlines. The work involves developing and maintaining secure and private software systems within Google's extensive cloud infrastructure.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2 years software development experience
2 years experience with data structures/algorithms
Code writing, review, and debugging
Project management and prioritization

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Experience building software for data privacy/security
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
