Tax Manager Mexico

As the Tax Manager for Mexico, you will play a key role in owning Adyen's Mexican tax structure, ensuring it is well-maintained for our continued growth and global expansion. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and drive projects that support the company's rapid growth and the evolving Mexican tax landscape. Over time you will expand your scope to Brazil, North America and EMEA as well, depending on the priorities.

Reporting to the Vice President - Global Head of Tax, this role is part of our global tax team and based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. You will work closely with your tax colleagues (incl. a LATAM tax manager and LATAM compliance & transformation manager), as well as liaising with Group Finance and wider company functions, both business partnering and educating on various tax topics.

What you'll do:

  • Support Adyen in navigating tax complexity in Mexico;
  • Contribute to the maintenance and scalability of the Latin America tax (Mexico/Brazil) structure;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the tax strategy for the region, aligned with Adyen's growth and global tax strategy;
  • Proactively identify and analyze potential tax risks and opportunities within Mexico, contributing to the development of recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance control of Adyen's tax position;
  • Serve as a key point of contact for tax matters in Mexico;
  • Collaborate closely with finance, commercial, and product teams on new product launches and business initiatives within Latin America to ensure tax compliance and efficiency from inception;
  • Review tax returns and assist with compliance, if need be;
  • Support tax audits as needed;
  • Contribute to projects with both internal and external stakeholders.

Who you are

  • You have a deep understanding of Mexican tax legislation;
  • You have proven experience in a Mexican (and broader Latin America) tax role;
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to translate complex tax legislation into practical business advice in a fast-paced, international setting;
  • You are eager to contribute to Adyen's continued success and expansion in the dynamic Latin American market, embracing new challenges and opportunities for professional growth;
  • You are proactive and solutions-oriented within a collaborative team environment;
  • You have a mindset of constantly improving, automating and scaling;
  • You’ve affinity with data and tax technology and use this to come up with solutions;
  • You’re not afraid to think out-of-the box and are able to come up with creative solutions;
  • You’re a go-getter, take ownership and are not afraid of doing the work yourself and do things outside your comfort zone;
  • You thrive in a rapidly-changing environment and have a growth mindset;
  • You have solid stakeholder management experience and can communicate in a clear and concise way;
  • Fluent in English is mandatory.
  • Fluent in Spanish is mandatory.
  • In-house experience or experience at a regulated financial institution is a plus.
  • Experience with Brazilian tax legislation is a plus.

This role is based in our Sao Paulo, Brazil office or at our office in Amsterdam. We are open to relocation.
